Stories from Ihorere Munyarwanda Association
Ihorere Munyarwanda is one of the associations fighting against HIV/AIDS. Ihorere Munyarwanda means “Weep Not Rwandan” and now has eighty-two members that used to be prostitutes. Indeed, since its creation, Ihorere Munyarwanda has aimed at bringing prostitutes from their jungle lives into normal living conditions. They were shown that prostitution is not a right or exclusive way of earning a living. They accepted the message and many of them accepted Jesus as their Savior.
Since 2001, the Association has initiated lending loans to its members to help them carry out small businesses. Also, Ihorere Munyarwanda is providing school fees and uniforms for ninety-one students that are AIDS orphans: eleven of them are studying in secondary school and others in primary school. Ihorere Munyarwanda has extended its activities to Matimba, Kajagari of Kanombe, Sodoma and Kosovo: all of these are areas known for prostitutes.
