Want to know about how things work at Mars Hill Kids?
We've got several systems in place that help provide safe, healthy, consistent environments for our kids. In particular, the Wellness Guidelines and Emergency Procedures below might be helpful for you to know. [If you're interested in additional information, we invite you to contact us.]
WELLNESS GUIDELINES
Is your child not feeling well? Out of consideration to other kids, parents, and volunteers, our guidelines require that children who are ill will not be allowed into nursery or classrooms. Specifically, we ask that you refrain from bringing your child to Mars Hill Kids if he/she is experiencing one or more of the following symptoms:
- Fever over 100.4
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Skin rashes or eruptions
- Coughing associated with a respiratory infection
- Runny nose which has a yellow or green discharge
- Pinkeye, which is often accompanied by a yellow/green discharge or thick drainage from the eye
- Parasites such as nits, lice, mites, or ringworm
- Drainage, in any form, from the ear
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
Detailed emergency procedures are posted in all our Kids classrooms, and all volunteers are familiar with evacuation routes for their room[s]. In the case of an emergency, procedures will be carried out as listed below.
- Babies will be evacuated in cribs; preschoolers will hold onto an evacuation rope, and elementary-age children will form lines, exiting the building using evacuation routes
- Volunteers will take with them their attendance binder/clipboard
- Children WILL NOT be released to their parents until after they are outside with all children accounted for, and after a Mars Hill staff member gives permission
- Volunteers will count children before leaving class and after reaching the designated outside area
- Class will continue as usual
- Mars Hill staff will monitor weather conditions
- Parents may come and request to take their own children home
- Babies will be evacuated in cribs, preschoolers will hold onto an evacuation rope, and elementary-age children will form lines and be led to designated shelter rooms [as posted in classrooms]
- Volunteers will take with them their attendance binder/clipboard
- Volunteers will count children before leaving class and after reaching the shelter room
- Children WILL NOT be released to their parents until after they are in shelter rooms with all children accounted for, and after a Mars Hill staff member gives permission
- Parents may stay with their children until they are released
