Advent is the Church calendar season of "arrival": we both anticipate the celebration of Jesus' birth and look ahead to his future arriving, the restoration of all things. As Mars Hill artists and writers capture the spirit of Advent here, we welcome you to respond with your own words.

It is always a wonderful blessing when I hear a story such as this one.... To be reminded that my focus should always be on the FATHER , not on how well I can do something to please the father. To come boldly to GOD; holding nothing back, completely transparent. Knowing that when I give all I have to HIM, there is no longer anything that stands between us.This is when I find that I can hear GOD the loudest.

I have attended and been part of many churches through my years. Mars Hill has been one that offers outstanding and exceptional communicators and lovers of God in all areas of worship, as well as the greater body at large. In as much as this has been a great teaching and serving community to belong to, it has often times, for someone of limited intellect and talent, such as myself, left me feeling diminished. My gift for the King seems rather small and insignificant in the mist of such an endowed head and body.

In this writing I am reminded of an old Hasidic tale of an illiterate shepherd who does not know the prayers but recites the alphabet and ask God to arrange the letters into eloquent words so that it would be pleasing and acceptable. The shepherd’s heart and love for God was pure, simple and beautiful.

Thank you for this story, for reminding me of my identity…Loved.
Not for what I do but for who I am.

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!
